Traditional methods consume huge amounts of electricity. If this new technology is integrated into chlor-alkali equipment, it can reduce the 30% of energy consumption. If this method can be extended to the whole country, it can reduce the national electricity consumption by 1%."
According to Dr. Van Auslitz, Head of Production and Technology at Bayer MaterialScience, China's chlorine production in 2008 was 21.2 million tons, which is about one-third of the world's total output. Therefore, the energy-saving and emission-reduction China's environmental impact is huge.
