Recently, BYD Vice President Wang Jianjun disclosed exclusively to NetEase Automobile that the BYD Changsha plant in Hunan Environmental Protection Technology Industrial Park is under intense construction. The assembly and welding plant has been excavated. The first phase of the project will be completed next year and BYD will be implemented. The production of electric buses went offline. It is reported that BYD's new energy vehicle base will be responsible for the production capacity of 5,000 B6 and B9 pure electric buses and 10,000 chassis.
According to an agreement signed between BYD Auto and Hunan Environmental Protection Technology Industrial Park, BYD's acquisition of US buses as a whole for electric buses and chassis production will reinvest no less than 3 billion yuan in the park and build a new energy vehicle with a scale of 4 square kilometers. The production base is expected to have an output value of at least 30 billion yuan within three years of production.
In addition to the production of electric buses, BYD will invest a further RMB 3 billion to build a production base with an annual output of 300,000 C3 and C6 minivans. The first phase of the 200,000 vehicle construction project will begin in late September this year.
