Gearbox security risks Volkswagen recalls 35,386 beetles

Recently, according to the official website of the Defective Product Management Center of the State Market Supervision and Administration Bureau, Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. has supervised the national market in accordance with the requirements of the "Defective Automobile Product Recall Management Regulations" and "Defective Automobile Product Recall Management Regulations". The General Administration of Administration recorded the recall plan and decided to recall some imported 2012-2015 beetle series cars produced from April 24, 2012 to October 21, 2014 starting from October 15, 2018, involving a total of 35,386 vehicles.

The vehicle involved in the recall is due to the short and tight grounding busbar installed at the bottom of the gearbox. During the driving, the grounding busbar may be broken due to the movement of the gearbox support, causing the grounding busbar to break due to the additional tensile force at the connection. There is a safety hazard in the engine.

Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. will entrust Volkswagen brand import vehicle authorized dealers to replace the improved grounded busbars with flexible materials and extensions for free vehicles within the scope to eliminate potential safety hazards.

In addition, FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. and Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. also announced on the same day a recall announcement involving 4 vehicles (3 Audi A3 and 1 Golf Travel Edition).

The reason for the recall was that when an airbag was deployed in front of a vehicle of the same type in an overseas market, the airbags in front of the front passengers broke down, posing a potential safety hazard. To further clarify the root cause of this case, FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. and Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. will use this recall to recycle the parts produced in the same batch and replace the new front passenger airbags. As a result, more in-depth research and analysis are performed on the same batch of parts to eliminate potential safety hazards.
