OFweek Robotics: As the most creative and promising area of the century, robotics and intelligent manufacturing have always been the focus of automation exhibitions. In 2011, the global industrial robot reached its peak in history, about 165,000 units. IFR predicts that China will become the world's largest industrial robot market in 2014, with sales reaching 35,000 sets, an increase of about 60% over 2011. The global total sales volume is 17%.

In the 17th South China Automation Exhibition, "Servo and Motion Control" was fortunate to participate in the "Intelligent Manufacturing and New Generation Industrial Robots" technical seminar. At the meeting, many experts and professors from research institutes and excellent enterprises expressed their views and suggestions on the development of robots in China from different angles. This seminar is different from the past, and the focus is more in-depth. This issue of "Servo and Motion Control" will take you to experience different sounds on the spot.

Digital workshop is the trend

The concept of intelligent manufacturing was first proposed by the United States in the 1990s. Since then, various developed countries have listed intelligent manufacturing systems as national plans and focused on development. Intelligent manufacturing equipment is a general term for all kinds of manufacturing equipment with sensing, decision-making and execution functions. Robots are the core components of intelligent manufacturing. At present, industrialized countries such as the United States, Germany, and Japan rely on years of technical accumulation in this area, and their advantages are obvious, especially in high-end equipment.

With the rapid development of IT and AMT technology, the depth and breadth of the development of intelligent manufacturing equipment in China is increasing. The intelligent manufacturing equipment industry system represented by new sensors, intelligent control systems, industrial robots and automated complete production lines has taken initial shape.

The digital workshop is a typical representative of intelligent manufacturing. The generalized digital workshop refers to the dynamic organization of digital information, which is composed of core enterprises and all related members, with the core of enterprises and all related members.

The digital workshop mainly solves the conversion process from design to manufacturing of factories, workshops and production lines and products, reduces the uncertainty between design and manufacturing, shortens the conversion time from design to production, and realizes the product life cycle. Functions at all stages of manufacturing, assembly, quality control and inspection.

Digital workshop technology has changed the traditional planning and design concept, transforming design planning from experience and manual mode to computer-aided digital simulation and optimization of accurate and reliable planning and design, greatly shortening the preparation time in the early stage, improving product quality and production efficiency. cut costs. At present, digital workshop technology has formed a solution solution for the system, which is widely used in automotive manufacturing, aerospace and electronics industries, such as automated warehouse systems, handling robot systems, and robot assembly inspection production lines.

Missing technical standards

Looking at the world's leading companies today, we are not relying on resource and labor advantages, but on patent-based innovation and trademark-based brand advantages. They can create and develop technical standards or rules that encourage many other companies to follow and follow. It can be said that the technical standard is a "nuclear weapon" that suppresses competitors.

Currently, the International Robot Standard is developed by the International Robot Standards Organization ISOTC184/SC2 and is chaired by ABB's TomasAngelhag. The TC184/SC2 committee has set up working groups on various standards of robots. In the existing working group, China is only a member of the TC184/SC2/WG8ServiceRobots working group, and two experts participate in the standard setting work. It can be said that China has a very weak voice in terms of standards for robots.

However, according to China's 2011 Service Robot Industry Analysis Report, the current global clean robot main products are produced in Asia, accounting for 82% of the total market, most of which are in China. In 2012, China's production accounted for about 70% of the world. It can be seen that the production capacity of service robots in China is unquestionable, but so far, there are few rules and regulations on technical standards in China, and enterprises and manufacturers are independent and the market is chaotic. Today, with the rapid development of technology, whoever can master the leading technical standards will control the future market.

On the one hand, it is a big country in production, and on the other hand, it is a blank technical standard. The missing standard will surely become the soft underbelly of China's development of service robots. If a patent affects only one enterprise, then one technical standard affects the entire industry and even affects the competitiveness of a country. Whoever adopts the standard as an international standard is important for the international competitiveness of each industry. Most of the current international standards are designated by developed countries. China is still in a passive implementation position in this respect. To ensure the competitiveness of China's products in the international market, it is extremely urgent for China to formulate its own internationally accepted technical standards.

Opportunities and challenges of serving robots

The development of service robots has entered a new stage, and the demand for robot services is no longer simply workshop processing and one-way information transmission. How to make humanoid intelligent robots truly have human movement, learning and perception ability has become an important issue in the development and application of humanoid robots.

In recent years, Europe, the United States, Japan and South Korea have attached great importance to the development of service robots, trying to seize the commanding heights of this cutting-edge technology. Honda's ASIMA humanoid service robot, GOOGLE's unmanned vehicle, NAO teaching research robot, wireless monitoring intelligent vacuuming robot, and Boston Power's BIGDOG transport robot have been put into use.

In China, the development of service robots has not yet become a climate, but as the population ages and the educational needs of young people increase, the demand for service robots must increase. In the future, there is still considerable room for development in the service robot market.

How to grasp the market is the key. From a technical point of view, the core technology of service robots is perception, cognition, and execution. In the future, its development trend is family, intelligent, and anthropomorphic. The key to robots to be as popular as household products such as televisions and computers is the standardization and modularization of production. From the application field, interaction with people is always the key to service robots. In the future, education and entertainment, smart home services, medical and health services, and public safety services are all areas where we can make a big difference.
