Cable Fault Tester Notes
Cable fault tester is a comprehensive set of equipment. It is used for testing of open, short circuit, grounding, low resistance, high resistance flashover and high resistance leakage faults of power cables, as well as accurate testing of open circuit and short circuit faults of coaxial communication cables and local telephone cables. Can also test the cable path, depth, and radio wave speed, verify the cable length, etc., and can establish cable files for daily maintenance and management.
Cautions during use of the cable fault tester :
1. During the pulse method test, be careful to get rid of all the equipment in the office and make measurements on the outermost line.
2. When using the flash method test, the trigger mode switch must be placed in the "flashover" position.
3. When using direct flash or flash test, pay attention to personal safety and equipment safety. Must be connected to the ground.
4. After the flashover test is completed, cut off the power supply, remove the connection line between the instrument and the high-voltage test device, and discharge the charge stored in the high-voltage capacitors and cables. When discharging, the current limiting resistor R should be added to limit the discharge current so that the current can be slowly discharged. After the voltage on the capacitor is reduced, the resistance in the discharge circuit directly to ground is zero, and the instantaneous discharge current can be as high as several hundred amps. Equipment or personal accident.
5. During the direct flash test, care must be taken to monitor the leakage current of the fault. If the current suddenly increases and the flashover phenomenon does not occur, the test voltage should be reduced immediately and the flashover test should be used instead.
The smoothness of the cable fault tester system and the power transmission depend on the normal operation of the cable line. Once obstacles occur on the line, it will cause interruption of communication and power. If failures cannot be detected and eliminated quickly, it will cause great economic losses and adverse social impact. Therefore, the maintenance personnel should pay attention to ensure that the cable fault tester can operate normally during the work process.

1. Test distance: single-ended test distance ≤ 10 km
